Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Courts of Referees Under Unemployment Acts.

Mr. Pattison

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of sittings held in the area covered by each employment exchange by Courts of Referees under (a) the Unemployment Insurance Acts and (b) the Unemployment Assistance Act in each of the insurance years 1930/31, 1931/32, 1932/33, 1933/34 and 1934/35 and the number of determina tions made in each case.

A table showing the number of sittings held by the Court of Referees and determinations given under the Unemployment Insurance Acts in the area covered by each employment exchange during each of the insurance years 1930/31, 1931/32 and 1932/33, and under (a) the Unemployment Insurance Acts and (b) the Unemployment Assistance Act during each of the insurance years 1933/34 and 1934/35 will be circulated with the Official Report. Following is the table:—

* At these Centres, CONTROL Offices have been established for administrative purpose owing to the operation of the Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933. 1933. They do not perform the complete functions of an Employment Exchange, their duties being mainly the supervision of certain Branch Employment Offices, the authorisation of cla ims to Unemployment Insurance Benefit, and applications for Unemployment Assistance and the conduct of the local Court of Referees.
