Vol. 59 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Ross River Obstructions.

asked the Minister for Finance whether proposals for the removal of obstructions in the rivers in the vicinity of New Ross, submitted to his Department, have been approved, and, if so, if he will make some money available from the Relief Vote, to enable this important work to be proceeded with so that the fishermen in New Ross and South Kilkenny will be enabled to cast their nets without the risk of having them torn repeatedly.

The work referred to has been estimated to cost upwards of £1,000, and the Minister is advised that the suggested operations would not produce any benefit to the fisheries of the rivers, commensurate with the estimated expenditure.
