Vol. 60 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unified Society—Committee of Management.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received from the officials and employees of the Unified Society a memorial requesting him to deprive the insured members of the Society of their statutory right of electing the members of the Committee of Management; and, if so, whether he is aware of the circumstances in which the memorial was prepared and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

No memorial was received by me from the officials and employees of the Unified Society requesting me to deprive the insured members of the Society of their statutory right of electing members of the Committee of Management.

A letter was, however, addressed to me signed by 19 of the officers and principal officials of the Society, asking for an interview for the purpose of submitting their views regarding the future government of the Society. As the matter had already been decided, I did not consider it necessary to grant the interview, and the signatories to the letter were so informed.

It is not proposed to take any further action in the matter.
