Vol. 60 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Saorstát Oyster Beds.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is intended to make provision during the coming season for the restocking of the existing oyster beds of the Saorstát, and, if so, whether provision will also be made for the planting of a new oyster bed at Cromane, County Kerry, where the bay is suitable for such development.

The directors of the Sea Fisheries Association are about to undertake restocking operations with regard to certain public beds upon which the stock of oysters is now very low. Only when the measure of success achieved in that direction has been ascertained would it be appropriate to consider the laying down of new oyster beds.
