Vol. 61 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Foreign Barley.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the quantity of foreign barley imported during the period 1st January, 1935, to 31st December, 1935; whether such importations were made under licence, and if the full duty was paid by the importers.

The imports of barley during the period 1st January to 31st December, 1935, totalled 228,649 cwts., all of which was imported under licence issued by the Minister for Agriculture. Barley is not liable to any duty of Customs.

Was that barley for seed purposes?

I do not know. I have answered the question exactly as the Deputy put it. He did not ask the other question, if he had I would have found out.
