Vol. 61 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Interference with Wireless Receivers.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state when he proposes to seek power which will enable him to take action to prevent interference with wireless receivers by electrical apparatus.

The prevention of interference by electrical apparatus with wireless reception is a matter of considerable complexity and the problem is being investigated internationally. Most of the trouble will, it is anticipated, disappear in time with the co-operation of the various branches of the electrical industry. Some avoidable interference is, undoubtedly, caused by users of electrical equipment and unless their co-operation in remedying this trouble is forthcoming the question of getting compulsory powers by legislation will have to be considered.
