Vol. 61 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disciplinary Action Against Detective Officer.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether any inquiry has been held into the conduct on the night of Christmas Eve last, of a detective officer at Galbally, when he assaulted Mr. James Scanlon of Galbally, and, if so, if he will state what has been the result of the inquiry, and what action has been taken in the matter.

Disciplinary action was taken against the detective officer who is referred to in the question: he was reprimanded, warned for reversion to the uniformed force and transferred to another division.

Will the Minister say if he is still acting as a detective officer?

Mr. Boland

I take it, from the answer that he is. He was simply warned for reversion to the uniformed force.
