Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Statistics.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (1) the total number of persons on the Live Register, (2) the number having unemployment insurance claims current, and (3) the number receiving unemployment assistance on the first Monday of (1) January, 1935, and (2) January, 1936.

The total number of persons on the Live Register on the 7th January, 1935, was 131, 451; the number having unemployment insurance claims current on the 7th January, 1935, was 24,498, and on the 6th January, 1936, was 20,066. The other figures asked for by the Deputy have already been supplied to him in answer to Parliamentary questions.
