Vol. 62 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Distribution of Ennistymon Lands.

Mr. Hogan

(Clare) asked the Minister for Lands if representations were made to the Irish Land Commission respecting the proposed acquisition and distribution of a farm held by John McInerney, Ballyhean, Ennistymon; if the farm was inspected by inspectors from that Department, and if it is now proposed to proceed with the distribution of the farm to landless men and uneconomic holders in the area, or if proposals for the acquisition of the farm by an individual are now before the Irish Land Commission for approval.

The Land Commission are unable to trace the receipt of any representations for acquisition and distribution of the farm referred to by the Deputy. They have not directed the inspection of the holding, and the question of instituting proceedings for its resumption is not under consideration by them. They are not aware of any proposals for the sale of the holding to a private individual.

Mr. Hogan (Clare):

Is the Parliamentary Secretary saying that no representatives of the Land Commission have inspected that land with a view to having it distributed amongst landless men and uneconomic holders?

That is so.
