Vol. 62 No. 5

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Disablement Benefit Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why Miss Bridget Corcoran, Belderrigbeg, Ballina, County Mayo (membership number 210861), who is incapacitated from work by illness, is not being paid disablement benefit by the National Health Insurance Society.

I am informed by the society that Miss Bridget Corcoran was paid benefit for the period 27th October, 1934, to the 20th April, 1935, amounting to £15 12s., but was suspended from the latter date as, in the opinion of the society, she had made false representation as to her alleged insurable employment, and had been irregularly admitted to membership of the society.

The society has reported the circumstances of the case to the Gárda Síochána with a view to initiating proceedings under Section 69 (1) of the National Insurance Act, 1911. The local State solicitor has informed the society that the matter is at present before the Attorney-General.
