Vol. 62 No. 13

Ceist—Question. Written Answer. - Unemployment Assistance Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment assistance has been disallowed by the court of referees in the case of Charles Gillespie, Crove, Meeneneavy, Killybegs. County Donegal (serial number 2321, Killybegs).

The application for unemployment assistance lodged by Mr. Charles Gillespie was refused by the unemployment assistance officer as from and including the 18th March, 1936, under Section 15 (1) (b) Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933, on the grounds that the applicant was not genuinely seeking and unable to obtain suitable employment. Mr. Gillespie appealed against the determination of the unemployment assistance officer to the court of referees which recommended that the application be refused as from and including the date in question. The unemployment assistance officer accepted the recommendation of the court of referees and so further payment of assistance could not be made on the application.
