asked the Minister for Education if he will give a return showing the names of the lay assistants and junior assistant mistresses who retired from the service of the Department during the period April 1st, 1922, to March 31st, 1934, with the school and county in which they were serving at the date of retiral, and the number of years' service given by each such teacher.
Written Answer. - Retirement of Teachers.
The official time and expenditure which would be involved in the preparation of the return as desired by the Deputy would not be justified, but, apart from this, I am not prepared to give a list of the names of individual teachers with the other particulars specified. The records of the Department show that approximately 170 lay assistants and 530 junior assistants mistresses ceased to serve in national schools during the period stated.
