Vol. 64 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Manufactures Act Exemptions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of Orders made to date exempting companies or businesses from the provisions of the Control of Manufactures Acts; (b) the different classes of manufacture or business carried on by such companies or businesses; (c) the share capital involved in each case, and (d) the conditions, if any, attached to the granting of the exemptions.

I have no power to make Orders exempting companies or businesses from the provisions of the Control of Manufactures Acts. Possibly what the Deputy desires to know is the number of new manufacture licences granted under these Acts. A register of all such licences is kept at the Office of the Department of Industry and Commerce, Lord Edward Street, Dublin, and is open to inspection by the public, and the Deputy may be able to obtain the information he requires by an inspection of the register.
