Vol. 65 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Haulbowline Dockyard.

andMr. Anthony asked the Minister for Finance if he will state details of (1) expenditure and (2) receipts on Haulbowline Dockyard each year from 1922 to 1936 inclusive; if he has had any representations from public bodies in connection with its future, and what are his intentions in the matter.

The details of the expenditure and receipts in connection with Haulbowline Dockyard were published each year in the Appropriation and Finance Accounts, which were made available to Deputies, and which Deputies will find in the reports available in the Library.

Representations in connection with the future of the dockyard have been made by the Cobh Traders' Association to the Commissioners of Public Works, who have the whole matter under consideration.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a resolution from the Cobh Urban District Council demanding an inquiry into the damage done to Government property at Haulbowline during its occupation by Haulbowline Industries, Ltd., and if he intends to hold the inquiry.

The Commissioners of Public Works have received a copy of a resolution passed by the Cobh Urban District Council calling for an inquiry in relation to Haulbowline Dockyard. It is not proposed to hold such an inquiry.

The Commissioners came to an arrangement with the late tenants of the Dockyard before they surrendered possession of the property on the question of its maintenance during the period it was leased to them.

In view of the reply by the Parliamentary Secretary I beg to give notice that I will raise this question on the adjournment.
