Vol. 65 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkenny District Mental Hospital.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that Kilkenny District Mental Hospital is seriously overcrowded; whether he is aware that plans have been prepared to relieve this overcrowding, and whether he is in a position to state the sum that will be made available by the Hospitals Commission towards the cost of carrying these plans into effect.

I am aware of the conditions in the Kilkenny District Mental Hospital and I am also aware that plans for improvements have been prepared. I am unable to say what sum will be made available for those works until a report in the matter is received from the Hospitals Commission.
