Vol. 65 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation at Mount Bellew (County Galway).

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that 300 acres of land have been offered by Colonel H. G. Bellew, Mount Bellew, County Galway, for afforestation; and, if so, if he will state what steps are being taken to acquire same.

The lands at Mount Bellew offered for sale for State forestry purposes by Colonel Grattan-Bellew have been inspected but action has been deferred pending a decision by the Land Commission, who have the entire estate at present under consideration for acquisition. The possibility of allocating portion of the lands, if acquired, for afforestation purposes will be kept in mind by the Land Commission.
