Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Three-cord Thread.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has received representations from Donegal shirt manufacturers relative to the prices charged by Irish Sewing Cotton Company, Ltd., for No. 50 three-cord thread on 2,000 yard cops; whether he is aware that their present quotation is 72/- gross, and that it can be secured by competitors of the shirt manufacturers who operate in Northern Ireland and Great Britain for 53/- gross.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative. In regard to the second part of the question, I am aware that the present quotation of the Irish Sewing Cotton Company, Ltd., for No. 50 three-cord thread on 2,000 yard cops is 72/- per gross, but I am not aware that it can be secured by competitors of the Donegal shirt manufacturers who operate in Northern Ireland and Great Britain at 53/- per gross.
