Vol. 66 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cootehill Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reasons why the claim of Hugh Hughes, Clough, Cootehill, for a disability pension was refused without the claimant having been given an opportunity to substantiate his claim before the board.

The application under the Army Pensions Act, 1932, by Mr. Hugh Hughes, Clough, Cootehill, County Cavan, was investigated as required by Section 8 of the Act. The Registration Board reported that applicant did not contract any disease while engaged in military service. In view of the report no award could be made and, accordingly, the question of the applicant's medical examination by the Army Pensions Board did not arise.
