Vol. 69 No. 1

Introduction of Bills. - Election of Leas-Cheann Comhairle.

I wish to propose that Deputy Patrick Hogan be elected as Leas-Cheann Comhairle. He has occupied that position for the past five years and I think it will be admitted that during that period he has been most impartial in his decisions and that he has filled the position with dignity to himself and advantage to the House.

Before the motion is put, I desire to say that for such a motion four days' notice is usual. If, however, no objection is raised, the House may proceed with the election of a Leas-Cheann Comhairle.

What is the necessity for the rush?

Let us put a telescope to the blind eye about that.

Question put and agreed to.
The House adjourned at 4.40 p.m., until Wednesday, 6th October, at 3 p.m.
