Vol. 69 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Produced Sugar.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether before the establishment of the existing beet sugar factories any estimate was made of the extent to which the price of home produced sugar would normally exceed the world price; and, if so, whether he will state what the difference between the world price and the price of home produced sugar was estimated to be.

Estimates on the basis of various specified assumptions were made in the course of consideration of the problem of sugar production, but I am not satisfied that any useful purpose would be served by the publication of such estimates at the present stage.
