Vol. 69 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployed Persons' Insurance Cards.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if his attention has been drawn to the hardships inflicted on unemployed persons in not having their national health insurance cards stamped during periods of unemployment, and if he proposes to introduce proposals for legislation to remedy this state of affairs, and have the national health insurance cards of the unemployed stamped each week.

I am aware of the position arising out of the absence of health insurance contributions in respect of periods of unemployment. No immediate legislation is contemplated, but the matter will be considered when the forthcoming examination into the financial basis of the Acts is being made.
