Vol. 69 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht Migration Scheme.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is his intention to continue the Gaeltacht migration scheme by transferring families from the western seaboard to the County Meath.

The Land Commission have not in hands at the moment any fresh scheme of migration from the Gaeltacht to County Meath, but they will be prepared to consider such a scheme should sufficient suitable land become available in any area after local needs have been met.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, does he not think it advisable to hold an enquiry into this costly undertaking, because at the moment there is more emigration to England from these colonies than from any other part of Meath?
