Vol. 69 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Lady's Execution in Spain.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he has caused his Department to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the execution in Spain of an Irish lady, Miss Boland, at the instance of the Valencia Government, and, if so, with what result.

An inquiry has been made through the Minister Plenipotentiary into the death of Miss Boland. So far our information indicates that she was murdered, together with members of the family by whom she was employed, by Basque or Valencia Government forces at Las Arenas immediately before the occupation of the town by General Franco's army.

The inquiry is being continued with a view to prosecuting a claim for reparation for the death of Miss Boland.
