Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Male and Female Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of men, boys, women and girls insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts on the last Monday in September, 1937, and the number of men, boys, women and girls so insured who were registered as unemployed on that date.

The particulars required in the first part of the question are not available for the precise date mentioned. The total numbers insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts during the Insurance Year ended 3rd October, 1937 were as follows:—

Women

76,096

Girls

16,818

These figures are to be regarded as preliminary and subject to revision.

The numbers of such persons registered as unemployed are not available.
