asked the Minister for Agriculture whether in view of the demand made in Limerick he will exercise his power under the Milk Regulation of Supply and Price Act, 1936, and consider the advisability of setting up a milk board to meet this demand.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Limerick Milk Board.
I have given careful consideration to this matter and am not satisfied that farmers and other cowkeepers supplying milk to Limerick would derive any advantage from the establishment of a milk board. Consequently, I do not propose to set up a board for Limerick. I would be prepared, however, when more experience has been gained of the working of the boards in Dublin and Cork, to discuss the subject further with representatives of Limerick producers and distributors.
Will the Minister consider the same situation as regards Waterford?
That is a separate question.
The same reply would apply.
