Vol. 69 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Athy Military Service Pension Application.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state when a decision will be conveyed to Mr. M. Dunne, Upper William Street, Athy, in respect of his application for a pension under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934.

As the referee has not yet reported on the application in question, I regret that I am not in a position to state when a decision will be conveyed to the applicant.

Is the Minister aware that this man was called before the board eight months ago, and does he not think that that period is abnormally long to delay a decision?

If it were a clear case, it would be abnormally long.

So far as the applicant is concerned, he has not been told that the case is not clear and feels that he has submitted evidence to clarify his claim to a pension.

I have told the Deputy that the referee has not yet reported to me on the matter.

Can the Minister say when it is likely it will be reported on?

I could not.
