Vol. 69 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boot and Shoe Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of boot and shoe factories set up by foreign firms in Saorstát Eireann and the localities in which they have been set up.

By foreign firms the Deputy means, I presume, firms operating under new manufacture licences granted under the Control of Manufactures Acts. If so, I would point out that, in accordance with the provisions of Section 12 of the Control of Manufactures Act, 1934, a register of such licences is maintained in my Department, and is open to inspection. Five licences have been granted in respect of the manufacture of boots and shoes.
