Vol. 69 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Thurles Gárda Barrack.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that the Gárda Síochána Barrack at Thurles, County Tipperary, is in an unsatisfactory condition and unsuitable for its purpose, and whether he is in a position to state when steps will be taken to provide suitable accommodation in the town.

The Board of Works, who are responsible for the provision of barrack accommodation for the Gárda Síochána, have informed me that, while it is realised that the barrack accommodation at Thurles falls short of modern standards, there are more urgent cases which must first be dealt with. Certain repairs and improvements to make the present premises more comfortable are receiving the board's consideration.
