Vol. 69 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cement Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is yet in a position to state if one of the proposed cement factories will be allocated to Waterford City, where adequate transport facilities and suitable raw materials are available.

The question of the erection of a third cement factory is under consideration, but the stage has not yet been reached at which a decision can be taken in the matter of location.

Will the facilities at Waterford be inspected before a decision is arrived at?

That is a separate question.

It is not a separate question. It is a relevant supplementary question. Surely the Minister can say if, before arriving at a decision, he will ask his staff to examine the facilities at Waterford, without committing himself in any way to Waterford or any other centre in the country?

The Deputy may be sure that all relevant considerations will be taken into account.

Then we may assume that Waterford will be so inspected?
