Vol. 69 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Alcohol Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what firm built and equipped the Irish alcohol factories and what was the total cost of each factory building and of the equipment of each of the buildings.

The five industrial alcohol factories were erected by the firm of Messrs. G.P. Walsh and Netherlands Harbour Works Co. of Dublin and the plant and equipment were supplied and installed by Messrs. Skodaworks, Ltd. of Prague. I am not yet in a position to state the final cost of each factory but, in accordance with the usual practice, particulars of the total expenditure on the industrial alcohol undertaking during 1937-38 will be presented to the Dáil after the close of the financial year.

Can the Minister say, in regard to the purchase of equipment from the Prague factory, whether the services of any agent or intermediary were employed?

That is a separate question. I could not answer it without notice.
