Vol. 70 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether representations were made to him by the Chairman of Templetuohy Labourers' and Uneconomic Holders' Committee with reference to the estate of Miss Power Lalor at Longorchard, Templetuohy, County Tipperary, requesting that it be acquired by the Land Commission for sub-division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men in the district; whether he is aware that many of the persons nominated were formerly employed on the estate and are now unemployed; if, as a result of these representations the estate was inspected by the Land Commission, what decision was arrived at as to its acquisition, and what is the present position.

Representations were made to the Land Commission by the Chairman of the Templetuohy Land Settlement Association to acquire the lands of Longorchard in the occupation of Miss Power Lalor. The Land Commission had the lands inspected and subsequently instituted proceedings for their acquisition and also for the acquisition of the parcels disposed of by Miss Power Lalor to other parties. Objections to the acquisition of the lands have been lodged and are pending for hearing before the Land Commission.
