Vol. 71 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the cause of the delay in proceeding with the sewerage scheme proposed for Gort, County Galway, and if in view of the unemployment in the town he will take whatever steps he can to have the work begun.

The delay has been due to the length of time taken in the preparation and submission of plans by the board of health. Plans were received in the Department about the middle of last month. A decision thereon will be communicated to the board of health as early as possible.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary endeavour to expedite this matter? Is he aware that the matter is urgent, not only because of the danger to the public health, but also because of the want of employment in the area? Will the Parliamentary Secretary expedite it as much as possible?
