Vol. 71 No. 6

Written Answers. - Untenanted Lands in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is proposed to acquire for division amongst uneconomic holders and landless men the following untenanted and nonresidential grass lands:—The Thunder (Eyre Coote) estate, Rowlestown East, Kilsallaghan, County Dublin, containing 120 acres; the Lyons estate, Newtown, Ballyboughal, containing 80 acres; the Carter estate, Newbarn, Kilsallaghan, containing 250 acres.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of some 280 acres of the holding of Patrick Thunder lands of Balleally East and West and Rowlestown, and it is anticipated that application will be made at an early date to the Appeal Tribunal for an order authorising the resumption of the lands. The question of instituting proceedings for the resumption of the holding of Thomas Carter containing 372 acres in the townland of Newbarn is at present under consideration. The estate of representatives of Mary J. Lyons, Newtown, Ballyboughal, containing 79 acres, has already been acquired and divided by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the position as regards the estate of Mary A. McCarthy (Record No. S8149), containing 150 acres, and when it is proposed to divide it; also, the position as regards the estate of Joseph Christy (Mrs. K. Baker), Broadmeadow and Balheary, Swords (Record No. U9251), containing 80 acres.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Lissenhall Little on the estate of Mary A. McCarthy, County Dublin, Record No. S8149, and the purchase price has been fixed. A scheme of division is in course of preparation, but it is not anticipated that the Land Commission will be in a position to take possession of the lands before the end of the present year. The Land Commission have at present no proceedings for the acquisition of the estate of representatives of Joseph Christy (now Mrs. K. Baker) which comprises lands at Balheary, Broadmeadow and Newtown.
