Vol. 72 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blind Persons' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is now in a position to state if proposals for legislation will be introduced at an early date to ensure that in calculating the amount of the pensions payable to blind persons, grants made to such persons under local welfare schemes will not be taken into account; and, if so, whether he is in a position to say when those proposals will be submitted to the Dáil.

Legislation has been prepared and will be introduced shortly to exclude from the calculation of a blind parent's means, for the purposes of a blind pension award, of any allowance payable by a local authority in respect of a dependent child or children.
