Vol. 72 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Grants (Co. Cork).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health when he is prepared to sanction the grant for improvements to Midleton District Home and Hospital, as indicated in his official communication (No.P.6619/37) dated 30th January, 1937.

In the communication referred to by the Deputy, sanction was conveyed to a grant of £223 from the Hospitals Trust Fund towards the cost of improving the lighting system at the Midleton District Home. The grant will be paid as the works proceed.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health when he is prepared to sanction the total expenditure of £5,270 for improvements to Cork County Home and Hospital, the borrowing of £1,757 having already been consented to by the Cork County Council and Cork County Borough Council, and the remainder of the cost being provided by the Hospitals Commission.

The plans for the proposed works are under consideration in the Department. A decision thereon will be given as soon as possible.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that portion of this could be dealt with now; that is the kitchen in the county home? That is very urgent. Could the Parliamentary Secretary manage to give us that part of it?

That part of the scheme is passed.
