asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the average number of men engaged on employment schemes in each of the months of January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 1938, distinguishing between the number of employed on (a) minor employment and land reclamation schemes, and (b) other schemes.

The attached statement sets out in respect of each month of the year 1938 the average number of men (including gangers) engaged on employment schemes, segregated as between (a) minor employment and land reclamation schemes, and (b) other schemes. In respect of the months of October, November, and December the figures under (b) and the totals are subject to revision when the outstanding returns for a few individual schemes come to hand, but meantime they may be taken as substantially accurate.
