Vol. 74 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet acquired the Kerdiffstown estate, Johnstown, Kill, County Kildare; and, if so, when the lands are likely to be divided.

Mr. Boland

The lands of Kerdiffstown have been purchased from the owners, the Dominican nuns, by the Land Commission but they are not in a position to allot the lands this season having regard to the development work necessary prior to division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the balance of the Alasty estate, Straffan, County Kildare.

Mr. Boland

The estate in question would appear to be the resumed holding in the townland of Alasty formerly in the occupation of the Munster and Leinster Bank. The Land Commission are not yet in a position to say when the remainder of the lands on this holding will be allotted.

Would the Minister say what is causing the delay in allocating the balance?

Mr. Boland

I am not in a position to say what is the cause.

It is only the Land Commission that can distribute this land. They have distributed some of it. Would the Minister tell us what is the delay in the distribution of the remainder?

Mr. Boland

I am not in a position to say.

Even for the Land Commission, that is a bit humorous.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the Hill estate at Arthurstown, Kill, Co. Kildare.

Mr. Boland

The allotment of the lands acquired by the Land Commission on the Hill estate to which the Deputy refers is held over pending the erection of necessary buildings. The Land Commission are not yet in a position to say when allotment will take place.
