Vol. 74 No. 18

Committee on Finance. - Vote 48—Technical Education.

Tairgim:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £215,842 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1940, chun íocaíochtaí fén Acht Oideachais Ghairme Beatha, 1930 (Úimh. 29 de 1930) agus chun crícheanna eile bhaineann le Ceárd-Oideachas agus le hOideachas Leanúnach.

That a sum not exceeding £215,842 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1940, for payments under the Vocational Education Act, 1930 (No. 29 of 1930) and for other purposes connected with Technical Instruction and Continuation Education.

Can the Minister tell us what Deputy Cleary meant by writing in the Mayo News on February 25th:—

"The scheme at present in operation for vocational education is the curse of the countryside"?

I wonder can the Minister say what is wrong?

The Deputy should read the rest of the letter, at least.

The rest is worse.

Vote agreed to.
