Vol. 75 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht Services.

asked the Minister for Lands (1) what was the stock on hands at the Central Marketing Depôt for Gaeltacht Products on 31st March, 1938; (2) at what date will the stock on hands at 31st March, 1939, be available; and (3) if he will undertake not to proceed with the discussion in the Dáil of the Estimate for the Gaeltacht Services until the latter figures are available.

The value of the stock of finished goods at the Central Marketing Depôt on the 31st March, 1938, was £12,419 1s. 7d.; stock will again be taken on the 31st instant and its value will be available not later than the 1st May next; the undertaking asked for in the last part of the question cannot be given.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, does he realise that it is a farce to consider Estimates of which the details are not available? To discuss these industries and the way the thing has been run, when the amount of stock on hands is not available is really turning the proceedings here into a farce. It is like asking a company to consider the trading for the year without the balance sheet.
