Vol. 75 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Gárda Station.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the Gárda station, Commons Road, Cork, was certified as being unsuitable over ten years ago, and again on the 9th September, 1937; that it has been condemned as unfit for habitation by the local medical officer; if so, if he will have provision made for the erection of a new barracks for the district and that the work be put in hands within the next few months.

I am aware of the unsuitability of the present premises. A proposal to erect a new barrack has been approved and the purchase of a site for this purpose has recently been authorised. It is hoped that it will be possible to select and acquire a suitable site shortly.

Will the Minister get going on it as quickly as possible?

Certainly.
