Vol. 75 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building of Offaly County Hospital.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the date when the tender was accepted by the Offaly Board of Health for the erection of the county hospital at Tullamore; the date when the tender was sanctioned by his Department; the date when work was started by the contractor; and the time limit, if any, laid down for the completion of the work, and the cause of any delay in completing the work.

The tender for the main building was accepted on the 23rd June, 1936, and sanctioned on the 2nd July, 1936. The work was started towards the end of 1936. I am not at present in a position to state the time fixed for the completion of the main work. The arrangements for the installation of electric lighting and a central heating system were only completed recently. The arrangements originally made were recast so as to provide for a joint boiler-house and laundry that would meet the requirements of the new hospital and other county institutions in Tullamore.
