Vol. 76 No. 3

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Claim for Mackerel Bounty.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that repeated applications have been made for the payment of bounty amounting to £45 15s. on cured mackerel exported to America from Castletownbere in the autumn of 1935; and seeing that this money is due to poor fishermen in that area, if he will take steps to have the money paid without further delay.

I presume that the Deputy refers to an application for bounty on 100 barrels of pickled mackerel exported on the 29th September, 1935, from Castletownbere to New York via Liverpool. Payment of bounty was refused as the consignment did not comply with the conditions prescribed by the scheme. No grounds exist for modifying the decision in the case and the applicant has been so informed repeatedly.
