Vol. 76 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imported Fruit Pulp.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of tons of fruit pulp which was imported during the year 1938.

The official import list does not provide a separate heading for fruit pulp as distinct from fruit juices. The total quantity of fruit pulp and fruit juice imported into this country in the year 1938 was 1,135 tons, as published on page 5 of the monthly trade statistics for December, 1938. This quantity consisted of pulp or juice liable to duty 604 tons, not liable to duty 444 tons, and grape must 87 tons.

Will the Minister say if there is any season of the year in which fruit pulp or fruit juice is not allowed in?

That is a separate question.
