Vol. 78 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Labourers Act, 1936.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (a) the date fixed as the appointed day for the purpose of the Labourers Act, 1936; (b) the number of county boards of health which have submitted schemes for the sale of cottages under the Act; (c) the number of such schemes approved by him; and (d) the number of cottages in each county board of health district transferred to the occupiers under the Act.

The information sought by the Deputy is:—(a) The day appointed to be the appointed day for the purposes of the Labourers Act, 1936, was the 31st day of March, 1937. (b) Each board of health prepared and submitted purchase schemes in relation to the cottages erected and occupied in its functional area with the exception of those situate on State land. (c) All schemes submitted were approved, viz., 29. (d) No data are available of the numbers of cottages in each county health district which have been transferred to the qualified occupiers.

Has the Minister any information as to the number of persons who made application for the purchase of cottages under the purchase scheme?

I will be able to supply that information if there is a query put down about it.
