Vol. 78 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Land in County Kildare.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to take steps to acquire the untenanted holding of Mr. Charles Welds, Downings, Prosperous, County Kildare, for division; and, if so, when the lands are likely to be acquired and divided.

The Land Commission have had an inspection made of the lands of Downings North and Downings South on the Welds Estate but have not yet decided the question of their acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire for division any portion of the lands of the Moore estate at Monasterevan; and, if so, whether proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of such lands, and when they are likely to be divided.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of any portion of the Moore Estate at Monasterevan.

Will the Minister state whether any inspection was undertaken in connection with this estate as I was informed to that effect by his Department a considerable time ago and, if such inspection was carried out, do the Land Commission not now propose to proceed in the matter?

Instructions were issued to the inspector for a preliminary report which has not yet come to hand.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is yet in a position to state whether a decision has been arrived at regarding the question of instituting proceedings for the resumption of the two holdings of land containing 422 acres in the townland of Ticknevin, Carbury, County Kildare, on the estate of the Irish Land Commission (Derriman), Record No. S. 2733.

On the 21st July, 1939, the Land Commission published notices of intention to apply to the Appeal Tribunal for leave to resume portions of the two holdings in question, containing altogether 353a. Or. 38p., but no further steps have been taken in the matter up to the present. Further proceedings for resumption in all cases will be governed by the provisions of Section 39 of the Land Act, 1939.
