Vol. 78 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Carlow Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received any representations regarding the provision of a water supply to residents at Carrigduff, County Carlow; and if he will state whether it is proposed to provide a water supply for this village, and, if so, when.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The provision of a water supply for Carrigduff is a matter for the Carlow Board of Health. I cannot say when a supply will be available. The Carlow Board of Health have for a considerable time been negotiating with the Wexford Board of Health for the taking of a supply of water for Carrigduff from the pipe line serving Bunclody, but no agreement as to terms has so far been reached.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, will he endeavour to use his good offices to bring these interminable negotiations to a satisfactory conclusion in the near future?

Well, negotiations are still continuing, at any rate, and I suppose that, to that extent, progress is being made.

Not very much at the moment.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that, before the Wexford Board of Health undertook the scheme in Bunclody, the Carlow Board of Health had undertaken to take a supply from the Bunclody scheme for Carrigduff?
