Vol. 78 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Produce—Issue of Orders.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what orders, instruments and directions have been issued under the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (No. 224) relating to the purchase, sale, distribution or otherwise of agricultural produce since the 1st November, 1939; and if he will state the general purpose of these orders, instruments and directions.

Three orders have been made, at the instance of my Department, under the Emergency Powers Act, 1939, entitled the Emergency Powers (No. 14), (No. 15) and (No. 16) Order respectively. The purpose of the first (No. 14) Order is to suspend the penal provisions of the Milk (Regulation of Supply and Price) Act, 1936, in respect of milk supplied or sold in Dublin by persons not qualified to supply milk to the city under that Act. The second (No. 15) Order makes it possible for creameries not registered in pursuance of the Milk and Dairies Act, 1935, to supply milk for human consumption in Dublin. The third (No. 16) Order enables a Minister, or a person authorised by him, to requisition articles of food essential to the life of the community.
