Vol. 78 No. 12

Written Answers. - National Health Insurance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount of the National Health Insurance net contribution income for the year ended 31st December, 1939, and the total estimated full-time employment for the year 1939 deduced therefrom.

The provisional figure for the National Health Insurance net contribution income in the calendar year 1939 is £696,147. Taking the average weekly contribution as 7.7d. the estimated average number of persons employed in each week of 1939 in occupations insurable under the National Health Insurance Acts was 417,000.

The expressions "net contribution income" and "in each week" are used in the same sense as in the reply given to the Deputy's question on the 9th February, 1939.
