Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Resumption of Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have initiated or propose to initiate proceedings for the acquisition of the Davis estate at Belmont, Carlow.

From the particulars given, the Land Commission are unable to identify the estate in question. No person named Davis is rated for any lands in the townland of Belmont, County Carlow.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission regarding the institution of proceedings for the resumption of two holdings of land in the townland of Ticknevin, Carbury, County Kildare, on the estate of the Irish Land Commission (Derriman), Record No. S.2733, and if he will state how the matter now stands.

Notices of intention to apply to the Appeal Tribunal for leave to resume portions of the two holdings in question were published by the Land Commission on 21st July, 1939. Proceedings for resumption are being continued.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet acquired the estate of Major Alexander at Ballinabranna, Milford, County Carlow, and, if not, if he will state how the matter now stands.

The Land Commission have not acquired the Alexander estate at Ballinabranna. An objection has been lodged to the acquisition of the lands and this objection has not yet been heard by the Land Commission. It will be listed for hearing as soon as circumstances permit.
