Vol. 80 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rent Restrictions Acts.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the Rent Restrictions Acts are now partly obsolete owing to the difficulty of obtaining evidence as to tenancies existing in 1914, and whether he proposes to amend the Acts and bring within their scope houses erected since 1923.

The matters referred to in the question are within the terms of reference of the tribunal that is at present inquiring into the law governing the relationship between certain classes of landlords and tenants. Until I have received the tribunal's report, I am not prepared to consider any amendment of the Rent Restrictions Acts.

Does the Minister expect to receive that report soon?

Mr. Boland

I am doing my best to have the matter expedited, but it is not a matter for me, as the Deputy realises.
